Regarding the Champagne Drappier Cuvée Collection : Charles de Gaulle
Drappier launched this champagne cuvée as a tribute to one of its most prestigious clients, General De Gaulle, who was a fan of Drappier Champagne.
Made from a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, Maison Drappier always strives for authenticity and naturalness, where sulfur is used in very small doses. 100% of the wines are aged in vats in order to keep the greatest freshness.
The nose offers us aromas of citrus and apple, then almond and walnut. The attack in mouth is complex, greedy, with slightly candied notes.
The Charles de Gaulle champagne is elegant, which accompanies perfectly white meats, a mesclun of salad with grilled guinea fowl spurs, or a Brie de Meaux.
The Charles de Gaulle champagne from DRAPPIER is a very original bottle, a rare bottle (only 5 to 6,000 produced) and still present in the cellars of the Elysee Palace.

Founded in 1808, Drappier owns 55 hectares of vines of which all the classic grape varieties are represented with a dominant for the Pinot Noir (70%) but some forgotten grape varieties are also present such as the Petit Meslier, the Arbane...
This family business prefers authenticity and uses very little sulfur. It has also created a sulphur-free cuvée: the Cuvée Brut Nature without sulphite.
The strong presence of Pinot Noir gives birth to powerful, vinous champagnes that seduced General De Gaulle in 1965. To pay tribute to him, Drappier has dedicated the Cuvée Charles De Gaulle to him. It is also the only House to offer for sale all sizes of champagne bottles: from the quarter bottle to the Melchisedec (30 liters)!
