  • Founded in Reims in 1760 by François Delamotte, this House is a real reference thanks to the constant quality of its champagnes, but also to its respect for the terroir from Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize, and Cramant: the famous Côte des Blancs.

Very marked by this Chardonnay grape variety, Delamotte champagnes are therefore airy and of great finesse. Note that Delamotte is part of the same group as Salon, a very prestigious company. Discover the whole range of Delamotte champagnes, from the blanc de blancs to the rosé, including the blanc de blancs millésimé and the brut.

Champagne Delamotte cuvées

Brut

Dominated by Chardonnay but complemented by the other two Champagne grape varieties to give it body and roundness, Delamotte Brut Champagne Brut Delamotte is the most accessible gateway to the Delamotte universe. Without ever being a second-rate cuvée, it's a taut, precise champagne that already says the essential about the house's style and the Mesnil terroir.

Rosé

The Champagne Rosé from Delamotte illustrates the art of blending and the consistency of the house, in a fruity, delicate register that never sacrifices the mineral tension characteristic of the Côte des Blancs. Notes of raspberry, strawberry and pink flowers, light and precise on the palate, a gastronomic rosé of great elegance.

Blanc de Blancs

The signature cuvée, the one that says it all. 100% Chardonnay. Le Blanc de Blancs de la maison Delamotte is aged on lees for a minimum of four to five years, allowing it to develop depth and complexity. With its aromas of cooked white cherry, poached apricot, candied lemon zest, brioche and ginger, it's a champagne that's regularly hailed as one of the finest in the world. Blanc de Blancs in the Champagne region.

Blanc de Blancs Millésimé

Produced from the six crus of the Côte des Blancs, the Blanc de Blancs Millésimé Delamotte is produced only in years when conditions allow the full potential of this exceptional terroir to be expressed. The 2018 vintage, crowned with a gold medal at the Global Masters 2025, stands out as one of the house's best recent expressions.

Did you know?

When years fail to produce Salon champagne, one of the rarest and most precious cuvées in the world, the Mesnil-sur-Oger juices that should have been used to produce it are added to the Blanc de Blancs Delamotte. In other words, in some years, the Blanc de Blancs Delamotte contains some of what would have been Champagne Salon.

Discovering Delamotte Champagne

Delamotte is the fifth oldest Champagne house in the world, founded in Reims in 1760, and one of the best-kept secrets of the Côte des Blancs. Established in Mesnil-sur-Oger since the 19th century, Delamotte is the sister house of the legendary Salon. With just four cuvées, Delamotte offers what other houses try to achieve with twenty: the purest, most honest expression of Champagne Chardonnay.

The history of Delamotte

François Delamotte is not a winemaker who came out of nowhere. Born in Reims in 1722, a town councillor and captain of the bourgeois militia, he was already an influential figure in the Champagne city when, in 1760, he decided to take the plunge and found his own Champagne wine house.

The company changed hands several times over the decades, until Marie-Louise de Nonancourt took over management between the wars and moved it to Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. In 1988, her son Bernard made the decisive move: in forming the Laurent-Perrier group, he integrated Delamotte and seized the opportunity to acquire the neighboring house of Salon, one of the rarest and most legendary in Champagne. Since then, the two houses have shared the same location, the same winemaking team and the same exacting standards, while retaining radically distinct identities.

Delamotte Champagne terroir and style

Delamotte's vineyards don't stretch over dozens of crus: they're concentrated in just a few villages in the Côte des Blancs, all of which are classified Grand Cru, with Mesnil-sur-Oger at their heart. It's a choice of precision rather than breadth. Avize, Oger and Cramant complete the supply of Chardonnay, while Pinots Noirs from Bouzy, Ambonnay and Tours-sur-Marne bring structure and balance to the blended cuvées.

What makes the estate so unique is, above all, the nature of the soil: almost pure chalk, with no significant layer of topsoil, which forces the vines to plunge their roots very deeply to find moisture. The result is grapes of rare tension and minerality, reflected in the glass by the saline, chalky sensation that is the hallmark of Le Mesnil champagnes. To preserve this signature, Blanc de Blancs incorporates only a very modest proportion of reserve wines, no more than 10%, so as not to alter the purity of the terroir by the imprint of time.

This sobriety is reflected in the range itself: just four cuvées, for over 260 years. While so many Champagne houses multiply their labels, Delamotte makes the opposite choice and assumes its responsibilities.

The house is located at 5-7 rue de la Brèche d'Oger, in Mesnil-sur-Oger, a village classified as a Grand Cru in the Côte des Blancs, just a few meters from the Salon cellars. Since the 18th century, the company has been housed in a handsome mansion that includes cellars, wineries and offices.

Delamotte champagnes are distinguished by their elegance, aromatic purity and great precision. The style is marked by freshness, minerality and fine effervescence, with a constant search for balance and clarity of terroir.

Champagne Delamotte is the sister house of Champagne Salon, within the Laurent-Perrier parent company. The two houses are located side by side in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and share the same winemaking team. Salon is one of the rarest and most expensive cuvées in the world, produced one year out of three on average, exclusively in mono-cru, mono-cépage and mono-millésime. Delamotte is a regular, accessible and consistent expression of this: a more accessible and regular approach to the Salon style.

Delamotte's main grape variety is Chardonnay, complemented by Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, depending on the cuvée, to bring structure, balance and complexity.
