APOLLONIS Champagne
A family estate
Present since 1675 in Nesle-le-Repons in the Marne Valley, the Loriot family is now in its 12th generation of winemakers. Léopold Loriot, saxophonist of the Festigny brass band, and his wife Palmyre, were the first winegrowers to install a wine press in the village in 1903. His son Germain is a music instructor. His grandson, Michel Loriot will talks about his champagnes through music. He set up his business in 1977, in the village, with his wife Martine. To this day, the estate remains small and family-owned, strengthened by Michel's association with the Vignerons Indépendants which he chaired. Marie, his daughter, an oenologist, and Alban, her husband, a production manager, belong to the 12th generation of winegrowers. Marie won the public prize of the Young Talents of Champagne in October 2017.
The estate
Certified High Environmental Value (HVE) since 2015, the 7 hectares of Michel Loriot's family estate are managed in ultra-reasoned viticulture with patience and precision. The Champagne estate is composed of about twenty parcels, in the Flagot valley. The vineyard is located around a hill on steep, clay-rich marl and limestone soils, and is planted with 80% Meunier, 18% Chardonnay and 2% Pinot Noir. Martine and Michel Loriot also make their own liqueur with their wine.
The music
Michel Loriot, 11th generation of winegrower, applies in his plots of land, a palliative process unheard of in Champagne, which is called "proteody". A variation of the words "protein" and "melody". A practice which consists in associating a musical wave to each protein of a plant and which seems to be effective in the development of a form of resistance of the vine against the diseases and the mushrooms. The plants develop a better resistance to diseases and a more important blooming. Brahms, Mozart, Rossini and Verdi act on the deposits of the wine, by modifying the structure of the yeasts. The family has therefore created a range that highlights the vibrations expressed at the heart of the tasting. All its wines are tasted in vibrations, in emotions, in an unequalled feeling. This is how the heart of the "Apollonis" collection vibrates.
