CHAMPAGNE SELOSSE
Anselm’s father, Jacques Selosse founded with his wife the land that still bears his name, in Avize back in 1949. Anselm took over the house in 1974. He is environmentalist and he believes in the “bourguignonne” wine maturation method, in oak barrels, He created his own path in picking the grapes only at high maturity and low yield, and raises the wine for a long period of time in oak barrels. This results in cuvées with a strong personality.
The Jacques Selosse’s house produces 57,000 bottles of champagne every year, from grapes grown and harvested on 7.5 hectares of vines spread on plots of chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs - Avize, Cramant, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger - and from some plots of the Montagne de Reims which is dedicated to Pinot Noir in Ay, Ambonnay and Mareuil-sur-Ay. Drinking a Champagne Jacques Selosse is always an intense moment.
Please note that these champagnes are dedicated to gastronomy. They will be better appreciated during a meal than during an aperitif, and they often improve after being decanted. The amateur can sometimes be surprised by the low effervescence, at least from visual aspect, as it is still surprisingly present in mouth.
Then, a real emotional journey starts, rich in flavor and complex. Theses champagnes are simply unique...
