Discover Deutz champagne
A house of elegance and precision established in Aÿ since 1838. Born of the daring partnership of two Prussian entrepreneurs, Deutz has combined Germanic rigor and Champagne excellence to create one of the most refined and consistent styles in Champagne, recognized today in over 40 countries.
The Deutz Champagne House
Maison Deutz was founded in 1838 in Aÿ, a historic cru and renowned Champagne terroir, by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, two wine merchants from Aachen. Attracted by the prosperity reigning in France under King Louis-Philippe I, the two immigrants settled in Champagne in 1830, before opening a wine trading house in 1838. Their dual culture of French excellence and technical rigor was a key factor in their success. In 1882, Maison Deutz became a founding member of the Syndicat des Grandes Marques, consolidating its position among the great names in champagne. In 1993, the house joined the Louis Roederer group to better secure its financial position, while retaining the Deutz spirit.
Terroir and style of Deutz champagne
Today owned by the Rouzaud family, also shareholders in Champagne Louis Roederer Deutz's vineyards are spread between the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne, on chalk, gravel and clay soils. The Deutz style is based on blends of nearly 80% Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, made from only the first pressings. Aging takes place between 20 and 60 meters underground, sometimes for more than ten years for prestige cuvées. Pinot Noir is the house's core grape variety: it produces wines of great fruitiness and vinosity, giving the entire Deutz range its classic, elegant and profound character.
Champagne Deutz: the cuvées
Brut Classic
The emblematic cuvée, representing the bulk of the house's production. A balanced blend of one-third Pinot Noir One third Pinot Meunier and one third Chardonnay, it includes 20 to 40% reserve wines each year to maintain the consistency and complexity characteristic of the Deutz style. On the nose, notes of hawthorn, mirabelle plum and brioche; on the palate, a fresh, fruity attack supported by a fine minerality.
Brut Rosé
Remarkable for its delicacy and finesse, Deutz Brut Rosé de Deutz expresses the lightness and delicacy of the house in a floral and fruity register. A perfect aperitif or accompaniment to raw fish or rosy poultry.
Vintage Blanc de Blancs
Made exclusively from Chardonnay This champagne has a light color, a mineral nose and a palate of ripe white fruit accompanied by dried flowers. A refined, taut expression, for lovers of finesse and aromatic purity.
Cuvée William Deutz
The house's great cuvée de garde, made only in the best years from Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, and benefiting from long ageing in the cellar. Its richness is supported by a smooth mouthfeel, and is the house's tribute to its founder.
Amour de Deutz
A prestige Cuvée Blanc de Blancs made exclusively with Chardonnay from great terroirs, it is distinguished by its purity, minerality and remarkable ageing capacity. L'Amour de Deutz Rosé, meanwhile, combines this finesse with the structure of a Pinot Noir vinified in red, for a more gourmet, vinous expression. These cuvées are also distinguished by a gold-plated capsule signed Pascal Morabito, which can be transformed into a pendant thanks to an integrated cord, an attention to detail that speaks volumes about the spirit of the house.
