Laurent-Perrier is an independent, family-run Champagne house, established in Tours-sur-Marne since 1812, whose destiny has been shaped by women of character and a visionary man. The champagne house has always played a pioneering and innovative role in the region. From the invention of non-dosage champagne to the world's most famous maceration rosé, every Laurent-Perrier grand cuvée is born of conviction, not trend.

The Laurent-Perrier House

A former cooper and bottler, André-Michel Pierlot set up in Tours-sur-Marne in 1812 as a Champagne wine merchant. His son Alphonse succeeded him and, having no descendants, passed the business on to his cellar master, Eugène Laurent. Eugène Laurent died prematurely in 1887, and his widow, Mathilde-Émilie Perrier, took over the reins of the company, adding her surname to that of Eugène Laurent to give the house the name Veuve Laurent-Perrier. She innovated in 1889 with the launch of her Grand Vin Sans Sucre, more in line with her taste and that of British customers. Veuve Laurent-Perrier ensured the company's prosperity for thirty-eight years, producing 600,000 bottles by 1914. In 1939, Marie-Louise Lanson bought the company. Bernard de Nonancourt returned from the war to complete a demanding apprenticeship in the vineyard and winery, before becoming Chairman and CEO in 1948. Under his leadership, Laurent-Perrier became a true innovator in Champagne in just 40 years, developing a unique range of champagnes exported to over 160 countries. After his death in 2010, his daughters Alexandra Pereyre de Nonancourt and Stéphanie Meneux de Nonancourt took over, perpetuating the values of high standards and elegance and preserving the independence of the house.

Laurent-Perrier Champagne terroir and style

Laurent-Perrier mainly sources its grapes from three wine-growing regions of the Marne: Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs. The company cultivates 150 hectares of its own vineyards and works with over 1,200 hectares of partner vineyards. It is certified High Environmental Value and Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne. The Laurent-Perrier style rests on three inseparable pillars: the primacy of Chardonnay for freshness and elegance, the mastery of maceration for rosés, and the art of blending as a path to perfection. The house pioneered the use of stainless steel tanks in the 1960s, opting for purity and precision at a time when this technique was still rare in Champagne.

The Cuvée

The ambassador of the house style. Marked by a dominant Chardonnay it is characterized by great finesse and freshness. More than 55 crus are used in its composition, to which 10 to 20% reserve wines are added. Accessible, balanced and remarkably consistent, it's the ideal introduction to the Laurent-Perrier style.

Cuvée Rosé

The house icon. Created in 1968, Cuvée Rosé is a 100% Pinot Noir maceration rosé produced using a demanding and unusual technique... The juice macerates with the grape skins for 48 to 72 hours to bring out the aromatic expression of the finest Pinot Noir vintages, before being fermented separately. Each bottle is aged in the cellar for a minimum of five years, well beyond legal requirements. Today, it is considered the world benchmark for rosé champagne. Laurent-Perrier regularly offers its cuvée Rosé in limited editions in exceptional cases.

Ultra Brut

In 1981, Laurent-Perrier became the first Champagne house to create a champagne without any dosage. Launched under the name Grand Vin Sans Sucre, in homage to Mathilde-Émilie Perrier's 1889 innovation, the Ultra Brut is a champagne of absolute purity, allowing the grapes and terroir to express themselves without any artifice. A cuvée for lovers of radical authenticity.

Grand Siècle

The prestige cuvée, and a concept unique throughout Champagne. Laurent-Perrier is the only Champagne house whose prestige cuvée is non-vintage. Grand Siècle brings together three exceptional vintages, creating what nature alone will never deliver: the perfect year. The blend is based on Chardonnays from Cramant, Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Pinots Noirs from Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzy, Tours-sur-Marne and Mailly, all from the 11 best Grands Crus in Champagne. Grands Crus de Champagne. Grand Siècle Itération N°26 was voted best champagne of the year in 2023 by James Suckling with a score of 100/100.

Alexandra Rosé Millésimé

Created in 1987 for the wedding of Alexandra de Nonancourt, this vintage rosé combines Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, exclusively from Grands Crus. Aged for at least ten years before release, it represents the most confidential and accomplished expression of the House's rosé expertise.

Did you know?

At the royal wedding of William and Kate, a Laurent-Perrier Rosé was served to all guests. Laurent-Perrier was the first Champagne house to receive the Royal Warrant from His Majesty King Charles III, honouring official suppliers to the British Crown. A relationship with England that goes back to Mathilde-Émilie Perrier herself, who launched her sugar-free champagne in 1889 to appeal to British customers, and was fully successful.
