Regarding the Champagne Billecart - Salmon Elisabeth Salmon Rosé 2013
Depth, complexity, and refinement characterize this iconic cuvée, created in honor of Elisabeth Salmon, co-founder of the House. This great vintage rosé fully expresses the nobility of the House’s expertise in blending rosé. It combines 47% Chardonnay Grands Crus from Oger, Cramant, and Mesnil-sur-Oger with 53% Pinot Noir Grands Crus and Premiers Crus from Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, Aÿ, and Bouzy. A small portion of the Pinot Noir is vinified as red wine from old vines in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, adding depth and intensity to the blend.
Its salmon-pink color, with delicate coppery highlights, is enlivened by an elegant effervescence. The nose captivates with a generous expression of red and black berries, peony, and violet, complemented by notes of blueberry, cherry, and rose. On the palate, the texture is delicate and silky, carried by flavors of cherry clafoutis, apple, and blood orange. A fresh, mineral finish, punctuated by clementine zest, elegantly rounds out this cuvée with a dosage of 4.4 g/L.
A true gourmet champagne, the Elisabeth Salmon Rosé 2013 is best enjoyed at 11–12°C, whether during a formal dinner or as a special tasting experience. Its finesse and depth pair beautifully with Bresse chicken served with crayfish or royal langoustines accompanied by a saffron sabayon. This cuvée also deserves to be enjoyed on its own to fully appreciate its aromatic complexity.
The 2013 vintage reveals a particularly elegant and refined expression of rosé. The richness of ripe fruit is balanced by a lovely mineral freshness, while the blend of Grand and Premier Cru Pinot Noir and Chardonnay brings depth, finesse, and length. This vintage gives the 2013 Elisabeth Salmon its brilliance, complexity, and exceptional aging potential.
Thanks to 115 months of aging on the lees, this cuvée already possesses remarkable depth while retaining superb aging potential. It can be cellared for more than 10 years under optimal conditions. Over time, its aromas will gain even greater complexity and nuance, while retaining its freshness and precision.
