Regarding the Champagne Henri Giraud Blanc de Craie magnum
The Cuvée Blanc de Craie of the House of Henri Giraud is a 100% Chardonnay champagne. A blend of chalky soils from the Montagne de Reims, 55% from the Aÿ terroir and 45% from Louvois. This cuvée is vinified in vats for 6 months and aged in small oak barrels from the Argonne forest for another 6 months. These wines are then aged in the cellars of the House for 3 years.
As soon as we hear its name, it resonates within us. It simultaneously titillates our hearing, touch, and sight and arouses emotion. Blanc de Craie is situated at the very edge of the human adventure of wine: it is the virgin and nourishing matrix, the blank page that is printed, the rural and underground universe of Champagne that man has sculpted.
The nose explodes with citrus notes. The lemon of Menton, the pink grapefruit of Florida are honored, then the pineapple followed by a small touch of lychee. It is fresh and fruity. The mouth is creamy and supple. A Blanc de Blancs of an incredible mineral purity!
To be served around 10°C with shellfish and semi-salted butter, grilled prawns a la plancha and flambéed with Cognac or caviar canapés.
This wine is out of the box. Flowery and generous, these Chardonnays are the signature of a passionate and unique winemaker as any producer should be.
In magnum, it's perfect for a fine dinner party.
