Regarding the Champagne Henri Giraud Fût de chêne MV20
This Fût de Chêne MV20 champagne from Maison Henri Giraud is a 100% Aÿ Grand Cru based on the 2020 vintage, supplemented with Solera dating back to 1990—hence the “MV” for “Multi Vintage.”
It is based on three key elements: low yields, small containers, and native grape varieties. Henri Giraud stopped using stainless steel tanks several years ago and now uses only small oak barrels from the Argonne Forest, located between Champagne and the Vosges.
This gastronomic cuvée is composed of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, with one-third of the blend consisting of reserve wines. Its aging in small oak barrels and extended maturation give it remarkable aromatic richness.
The bubbles are fine, and the mousse is delicate. The nose is particularly complex, revealing aromas of ripe fruits such as peach and mirabelle plum, along with notes of pastry and dried fruit. On the palate, the attack is full-bodied and creamy, giving way to aromas of candied citrus and exotic fruits, blended with a lovely mineral tension. The finish is superbly long and lingering… with a slight hint of mint.
A great Fût de Chêne MV20 wine, perfect for a chic aperitif or to pair with a meal—such as roasted lobster with brown butter, veal medallions with oyster mushrooms, or aged Comté cheese.
A champagne of great harmony and character, whose structure and vinous quality make it a true champagne for a meal. A great champagne for connoisseurs!
