Regarding the Champagne Chassenay d'Arce Pinot Blanc Extra Brut 2016

The winemakers of Chassenay d'Arce have preserved a rare legacy: a few plots of a forgotten grape variety—Pinot Blanc—to create an exclusive and remarkable champagne that is truly distinctive to the House: the 2016 Pinot Blanc Extra Brut. This cuvée is the result of the marriage of this rare grape variety with a unique terroir: the Arce Valley.

This 100% Pinot Blanc, part of which is aged in oak, is delightful. The 2016 vintage exhibits beautiful ripeness and a lovely balance between freshness and roundness.

After 8 years of aging on the lees, the rich and highly expressive nose reveals aromas of yellow fruits and very ripe pears. On the palate, it is rich, full-bodied, and complex, with notable notes of mirabelle plum. Barrel aging contributes delicious smoky and spicy notes on the finish.

Its low dosage (5 g/L) allows it to express itself authentically. Serve chilled (between 8° and 10°C) in large white wine glasses, paired with a seafood platter or a citrus-infused sea bream ceviche.

This 2016 vintage offers excellent aging potential.

Champagne Chassenay d'Arce

The Maison Chassenay d'Arce was created in 1956 in Ville-sur-Arce. Today, in the heart of the Côte des Bar, there are 130 families and 3 generations of winegrowers who work in the same spirit of cooperation, solidarity and transmission of knowledge.

The House is committed to a CSR approach and is the first Champagne House to be awarded the Vignerons Engagés label. The vineyard, whose cultivation is reasoned, extends over 315 hectares. The spirit of the House is a family spirit, a spirit of the land and the requirement shared by its winegrowers to produce high quality champagnes, reflecting the specific terroir of the Côte des Bar, with a dominant grape variety: pinot noir.
