At Jacques Selosse ...
... the 2002 vintage comes from 2 parcels of Chardonnay located on the Grand-Cru d'Avize terroir . Anselme Selosse has been using his 2 parcels to make this vintage cuvee since 1975. A great Champagne, with tension to accompany aromas of candied fruits, pears, apricots and ripe apples on a minerality typical of the Avize parcels. Domaine Jacques Selosse's 2002 vintage is one of the finest Champagnes to be tasted. Only 3,600 bottles of this 2002 vintage are available.
At Lanson
... the cuvée Noble Brut Millésimé 2002 alone embodies the great nobility of the House served at the Eiffel Tower restaurant. It's a Champagne with a sunny profile, made from a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir, exclusively from terroirs classified as Grands-Crus, and aged for 13 years on laths. According to CIVC (Centre Interprofessionnel des Vins de Champagne) regulations, a vintage must be aged on laths for a minimum of 3 years. Maison Lanson has given this 2002 vintage plenty of time to improve! On the nose and palate, white flowers and citrus flavors such as Menton lemon. A truly exceptional champagne, awarded a gold medal by the International Wine Challenge (IWC).
At Ruinart
.... The 2002 vintage is no exception, with two extraordinarily precise cuvées. A Blanc de Blanc Dom Ruinart Millésime 2002, and the Dom Ruinart Rosé Millésime 2002, which surprises with its intensity and aromatic complexity. This cuvée is a blend of 80% Chardonnay from the Grands Crus of the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims, and 20% Pinot Noir from the crus of Sillery and Verzenay. Notes of exotic fruits such as guava, blood orange and citron mingle with floral aromas of violets and rose once you've got it in your mouth. The richness of this 2002 vintage marks a tasting with exceptional fullness and volume. The House suggests pairing it with high-flying dishes such as"Pigeon laqué au soja, Canard Colvert aux girolles et griottes or côte de veau basse température et son risotto al radicchio". Great art from plate to flute.
At Piper-Heidsieck
In almost 40 years, only eight Prestige cuvées have been produced, one of them named Rare. Cuvée Rare 2002 is the ninth and last of the century. The result of a blend of 70% Chardonnays from the Montagne de Reims and 30% Pinots Noirs, it matured for over seven years in the company's cellars. Here, Piper-Heidsieck signs the quintessence of the House style, bringing together amplitude, freshness and acidity, with flavors of stone fruit and brioche, a hint of spice and great length on the palate. A real success!
