This is the # to remember and use on October 23 to celebrate this effervescent day, "World Champagne Day". The #ChampagneDay principle is simple and universal:"celebrate the "wine of kings, king of wines" and share its tasting by toasting virtually with the worldwide community of Champagne lovers. Champagne Day celebrates the wine of Champagne, the symbol of festivity and conviviality," explains the Champagne Committee.

Born in 2009 from an initiative by Californian wine blogger and trainer Chris Oggenfus, the event is now followed around the world, with a commitment of nearly 30 million users in 2019. Today, it remains collaborative, free and open to all.

The Comité Champagne has created a platform for the occasion, to federate the events planned for World Champagne Day 2020: https://champagneday.champagne.fr/

It will bring together champagne enthusiasts for social networking, e-apéritifs and virtual technical tastings. It also provides an opportunity for cafés, bars, restaurants, discos, wine merchants, winegrowers and wine houses to organize events around Champagne. More and more people from the 4 corners of the world are sending photos and sharing their champagne tastings via Twitter and social networks. It's a great way to discover new champagne lovers and share a common passion: champagne.

Events all over the world

In Sweden, at the restaurant "La maison de l'aigle noir", an exceptional tasting of Christian BRIARD champagnes in magnum, vintages 2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012.
At the Bistrot Bichomau restaurant in Lisbon, Portugal, a tasting of four Landragin & Barbier champagnes is organized.
In Miami, USA, champagne will be celebrated for 4 full days! From October 13 to October 16, "Miami Champagne Week" will feature a tasting of champagnes from the Maison Perrier-Jouët, including Champagne Perrier-Jouët Brut Blanc de Blancs, Champagne Perrier-Jouët Brut Blason Rosé and the cuvée Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Edition Première 2007.A number of Ruinart's top vintages will also be tasted at a masterclass hosted by a Finnish sommelier: Ruinart Blanc de Blancs, Ruinart Blanc de Blancs magnum bottle and Dom Ruinart Blanc de Blancs 2007.
In Chicago, the city will celebrate Champagne day with a masterclass/seminar hosted by sommelier Alicia Barrett , who will take participants on a tour of Champagne, navigating sub-regions and varietals, and turning the audience into experts in the Champagne production process. At the end of the day, a grand Trivial Poursuit will be organized, and of course the winner will receive a magnificent Magnum of Champagne!
