Regarding the Champagne Philipponnat Clos des Goisses 2013 magnum
Philiponnat's 2013 Clos des Goisses cuvée comes from a hillside, divided into 14 parcels of pure chalk, in Mareuil-sur-Ay, whose 45° slope gives the cuvée its name. In old Champagne, "Gois" or "Goisse" means an extremely steep hillside. Only the best parcels of the vintage were included in this blend of 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Chardonnay.
Its partial vinification (47%) under wood offers more complexity and there is no malolactic fermentation. It was then aged for 8 years in the cellars of the House and a low dosage (4.25g/l) was chosen to let all the minerality and vinosity of this great vineyard express itself.
Its foam is of a beautiful effervescence. The nose is floral and elegant, with a finish of toasted notes. The palate is mineral, rich, with notes of red fruits and a long finish, typical of this fresh and elegant vintage.
This prestige extra-brut cuvée will be perfect with seafood such as lobster, iodized fish, or soft cheeses. Don't hesitate to decant it before serving.
PHILIPPONNAT's Clos des Goisses 2013 in magnum comes in a gift box. It is perfectly mature but can be kept for several decades in the cellar.
