#1 - Conversation with the living by Ruinart
Convinced that art has the power to transform, connect and enlighten, Maison Ruinart has entrusted the artistic reinterpretation of its heritage to renowned contemporary artists every year since 2008.
This year, to mark the inauguration of its pavilion in Reims, Maison Ruinart went all out and gave 6 artists from around the world carte blanche for a "Conversation with the living".
Among them are Andrea Bowers, a visual artist who combines art and commitment, Thijs Biersteker whose creations are based on scientific data, Marcus Coates involved in creating new relationships with the natural world, Pascale Marthine Tayou who makes aesthetics appear where we least expect it, Henrique Oliveira and his singular sculptures combining plant and organic elements and Tomoko Sauvage, an artist inspired by the formation and transparency of bubbles... Their artistic proposals echo the values of the Maison and challenge society about climate change.
From October 2024, the works of these artists will be exhibited in the Jardin des Artistes in Reims. With "Conversations with the living", Maison Ruinart is not content to sponsor yet another artistic event. It wants to initiate a movement, a profound reflection on our relationship with the planet. #3 - The word Champagne is now protected and recognized as notorious in China!
Already recognized by China in 2013, the Champagne appellation was very recently granted "notorious name" status, giving it even greater protection. A first for China. From now on, the use of the word "Champagne" is no longer limited to wines, but to all products and services in Chinese or Latin characters. Gone are the ice creams, candies and perfumes made with Champagne, which have benefited from the reputation of the world's best-known sparkling wine. This is a great victory for the Comité Champagne, whose mission is to firmly promote and protect Champagne and its name, in France and around the world.
#4 - Nicolas Feuillatte releases a mini-format bottle for maximum pleasure
20cl! It's THE new trendy, on-the-go format par excellence. Available in its Brut version, this format comes with a practical and chic accessory: the One Fo(u)r strap.
These Brut and Rosé bottles are available from wine merchants and Nicolas Feuillatte boutiques in Paris and Chouilly. An ingenious idea that invites you to add something extra to the ordinary.
#5 - Towards a revision of the Champagne appellation area in 2026?
"Champagne is Champagne".You've probably heard this famous phrase before..But what exactly does it mean?
Since 1927, the Champagne production area has been legally delimited. Its 34,000 ha spread over 319 communes and four départements (Aisne, Marne, Aube, Haute-Marne) produce the famous Champagne wine every year.
To meet growing world demand, while taking into account the consequences of climate change, the SGV has been working for many years with the commission of experts appointed by the Institut National de l'Origine et de la Qualité (INAO) to determine which new parcels could be included in the Champagne production area.
The project should be presented in 2026 and finalized by 2029, by which time any appeals will have been settled.
