Regarding the Champagne Taittinger Taittinger Collection Sebastiao Salgado 2008
Champagne Taittinger only produces a vintage when the harvest is of exceptional quality. Brut vintages from Taittinger are always signed by an artist. This year, the photographer Sebastiao Salgado was chosen for this exceptional vintage : 2008 !
In 1973, at the age of 29, Sebastiao decided to put his career as an economist on hold and devote himself to photography. Life seemed to have more meaning from behind the viewfinder. Patiently, he observed the earth, and its inhabitants. His photographs reflect a tremendous tenderness. He does not judge. He simply present what he sees. His black and white images with baroque lighting awaken our conscience. One of his pictures illustrates the 2008 vintage, exclusively elaborated from first press wine.
The 2008 vintage has produced wines characterized by freshness and vivacity, with a perfectly integrated acidity that suggests they will age very well. Intense and mineral, the nose combines floral and citrus notes (lemon and grapefruit). On the palate, fruit, vinosity and richness predominate.
The bottles are first aged in the cellars for several years – allowing the aromas to slowly mature and the wine to develop length and complexity – before they are ready to be enjoyed.
Ideal as an aperitif, this wine is also the ideal accompaniment to fish in sauce or white meats.
